Our House Pictures (Before and After)~Page 2

Welcome to the second page of our house before and afters! Here you will see the project pics of the family room, bedroom hallway and the front porch.

We decided to transform our family room from a plain uninviting space into a cozy room with a log cabin feel. From custom bookcases, wall treatment, and a new door to the garage to all new window treatments, slipcover, furniture, flooring, and lanterns above the mantel; it was a total overhaul.

The bedroom hallway was another larger project. We ripped out the old worn carpet and put in Bruce hardwood flooring with a new carpet runner. We painted the beige walls a new mocha color and replaced the old small overhead light with a new semi flush fixture. One of the biggest changes was replacing all 8 of the old brown doors with brand new white 6 paneled ones. It really brightens the space!

We decided to turn our attention from the inside to the outside and redo the front porch area of our home. Since the front of the house is the first thing people see when they come to our home, we wanted it to be warm and inviting. We removed the old, large flowerboxes that enclosed the porch and made it feel cramped. We bought rockers and a new table and ditched the green plastic chairs. No more toys or shoes gathering by the door either :) We also redid the front flower bed to make it a bit more pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately, the true before pictures we had taken are temporarily "lost" on the old computer, but you'll still get the idea. If we are able to retrieve them down the road, I will put them up here.

Go to page three or click here to see pictures of the new master bath!

Please be patient while all images load.

A plain, boring family room....

...is now a cozy "log cabin" retreat.

Another shot of the family room before.

Same shot after.

A before shot showing the old hallow 70's door to the garage.

The after picture showing the new solid pine 6 paneled door.

Wicker children's furniture left out for the trash was repainted and made more comfortable with red vinyl cushions.

A close up shot of Matt's handy work (he built these units from scratch).

Our new family room

The old, unwelcoming bedroom hallway

The new, much warmer and classier bedroom hallway

Notice the old brown doors, small light and worn beige carpet

Now brand new white 6 paneled doors, overhead fixture and hardwood floors brighten the space and add a touch of subtle elegance

A shot really showing off the new doors

This part of the hallway once had brown closet doors on either side. With all new white doors, it is now a much brighter area leading into the main bathroom.

Matt hard at work prepping for new flooring.

Large flowerboxes used to close off the porch, and the border of monkey grass took over the front garden.

The flowerboxes have been removed. New porch furniture has been bought and that monkey grass border is gone!

Another before shot.

....and after

One more after shot.
